Quibeland has you playing the role of a heroic cube, armed with a sword and a shield. You'll need to make your way to the end of a series of levels, but the going won't be easy... there's many hazards to be found and enemies that want to kill you. But, with a little bit of practice and patience, you should have no problems getting our cubed hero to his destination. The game is pretty easy to play - use the left and right arrow keys to move your character around left and right respectively, press the up arrow to jump, and the down arrow to attack with your sword. You'll move around one screen at a time, and each screen is loaded with ways to die if you're not careful. There are big, spikey blocks that you'll see a whole hell of a lot of - naturally, you want to avoid these. When you get near them, they'll drop, so make sure to stop before you get too close otherwise they'll hit you. Once they come down, they'll move back up, and then there will be a countdown of 3, 2, 1 before they drop again - this is your best chance to slip past them. There are also enemies, generally of a round blob like appearance that you will have to stab with your sowrd to defeat them, lest they kill you instead. There are some things you encounter that you'll want to pick up - money, which is represented by a circle with a dollar sign on it, health potions which look just as you expect, and extra lives that look like a shrunk down version of your character. Up along the top left of the screen is your health meter - each time you get hit this will go down, and if it runs out all of the way, you die and lose a life. Lives are respresented with little square icons that look like your character right below the health bar. Should you run out of health without any extra lives left over, then it's game over for you and you will have to start the game over. Not necessarily entirely over though - certain (but not all) levels will display something called a level code in the lower left portion of the screen. This level code functions just the same as a password did on all of those games you played in the 80's and 90's - from the main menu you can enter this in, and it will take you back to that level instead of having you start from level one. There's a bit of combat to this game, but the primary focus is just to sruvive the hazards, and also to properly time out your jumps. A tip for making your jumps - you can hang partway off of a block without falling... learn how far over you can be and use this to your advantage to make the best jumps.
